Don't Worry About Superbowl Snack on Your Body

It is a great time of year when all of your friends and family get together to celebrate the big game, and part of that celebration undeniably includes gorging on food. But this does not have to be a deal-breaker for dieters. You can still enjoy food without eating all of the calories.

Here are some great Superbowl snack ideas that will not pack on the pounds so that you can relax and enjoy the game.

Tasty Food Idea #1: Chili- This is a Superbowl essential, and you do not have to get rid of it to save calories. You can reduce the calories in your chili by choosing extra lean beef or even better, turkey, or make it vegetarian. You can also use reduced sodium beans and reduced fat cheese and sour cream for garnish.

Tasty Food Idea #2: Cornbread- What is great with chili? Cornbread! To make this indulgence low-fat, you can make it with whole-wheat flour and fat-free buttermilk and canola oil.

Tasty Food Idea #3: Potato Skins- These are great appetizers, and you can still include them for your low fat Superbowl party by loading them up with salsa and topping them with low fat cheese and sour cream.

Tasty Food Idea #4: Veggie Plate- A veggie plate is easy to make and is a great snack to include for Superbowl. Cut veggies like carrots, cucumbers, celery, radishes, tomatoes, peppers and broccoli. Pair the veggies with a low-fat dip and you are ready to serve!

Tasty Food Idea #5: Skewers- These are easy to make and eat! Load them up with eggplant, chicken, peppers and onions, and throw them on the grill.

Tasty Food Idea #6: Burgers- You can't have a Superbowl party without burgers! Instead of ground beef burgers though, choose turkey or veggie patties, and make sure all of the dips and sauces are low-fat. Include lettuce, tomatoes, pickles and onions and you can get your daily veggie intake with your delicious burger!

With these snacks you can still have a great time during the Superbowl while not having to worry about eating too many calories.

And if you are going to have yourself a few drinks, you can save calories on beverages as well by swapping out the beer (up to 300 calories in a bottle) for wine (120 calories per glass) or hard liquor like vodka, rum or rye (only 100 calories per 1.5 ounce).

When mixing the hard drinks, make sure to use low calorie mixes like water, soda or tonic.

So sit back, dig in, and enjoy your very own tasty, but healthier Superbowl!
